slGoth is pleased to present “The Truth About Bats & Avies” Charity Festival for Bat World Sanctuary, October 15 – 31st 2015.  Do you love bats?  Of course you do!  Join us in October when we will gather at the slGoth festival grounds to purchase bat themed creations from top Second Life designers with proceeds1 benefiting Bat World Sanctuary.

About Bat World Sanctuary2
“In 1994, Amanda Lollar founded Bat World Sanctuary, the organization’s first sanctuary for non-releasable bats. Hundreds of bats from around the world have found permanent refuge at this indoor, natural habitat facility. These non-releasable bats include those that have been used in research, retired from zoos, orphaned, permanently injured or confiscated from the exotic pet trade. Bat World is located just outside of Cool, Texas and serves as headquarters for the organization. Aside from this facility, Bat World has established rescue centers across the US. Bat World Sanctuary has been featured on television programs on the Discovery Channel, 20/20 Downtown, Animal Planet, Nickelodeon, the CBS Early Show and Late Night with David Letterman.”  For more information visit Bat World’s website, Like on Facebook, or consider adopting a bat.

About the charity festival
In June I contacted Amanda Lollar at Bat World Sanctuary to ask if Bat World would be interested in a new way to raise funds for the sanctuary. I noticed that Bat World was progressive with their fundraising efforts by promoting Amazon Smile and other innovative online programs. To my delight she loved the idea of a charity event in Second Life. Bat World is currently in the middle of “orphan season” caring for injured and bats in need and she thanks the residents of Second Life for this opportunity to raise much needed funds for Bat World. As we near the festival date, and orphan season concludes, we will hear more from Ms. Lollar.
